"MRE" stands for "Meal, Ready-to-Eat." It is a type of meal used by the military, emergency services, humanitarian aid, campers, schools, expeditions, preppers and many other organizations and individuals that need to provide food to their personnel in situations where traditional food service facilities may not be available.
MRE meals are designed to be durable, lightweight, and easily transportable.
MREs are designed to provide a complete meal in a single pouch. MREs are designed to be eaten hot or cold (but in most cases taste better hot) without being heated, although they often include a Flameless Ration Heater that can be used to warm the food. Some people also choose to heat their MREs by placing them in hot water for 6 or 7 minutes, or on a hot surface.
MREs are a convenient and long-lasting food option for people who need to be able to sustain themselves in challenging environments.
